Over five decades ago, brothers Isaac and Abe Rosenberg inaugurated their construction enterprise in the heart of Brooklyn. In the early days, as their fledgling company sought local warehousing, fate led them to a substantial property housing a modest lumber and hardware business named Flatbush Lumber. The property owner, looking to retire and transition the space into warehousing, presented an opportunity. Choosing to take the plunge, the Rosenbergs salvaged the business, giving rise to Flatbush Certified Lumber on Albemarie Road, officially established on July 4, 1973. This marked the inception of a new era defined by service, satisfaction, and integrity.
The Flatbush Certified Lumber brand did not confine itself to its Brooklyn roots but, over time, expanded its presence to branches in Boro Park. The 1980s witnessed a pivotal phase of expansion and relocation for Certified Lumber, which transitioned to two spacious, state-of-the-art facilities in the Boro Park and Williamsburg sections of Brooklyn, Mahwah, Bloomingburg, NY, and, ultimately, Morrisville, Pennsylvania. These new locations evolved into enduring communal landmarks, offering expanded showrooms, diverse product lines, and comprehensive services catering to both contractors and retail customers.
In 2021, the Lakewood branch joined the Certified banner, extending the trademark level of service and integrity beyond state lines into new and emerging markets. Shortly thereafter, Certifier’s regional shipping headquarters emerged as a colossal 48-acre distribution hub along the national freight rail line in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. The Rosenbergs’ venture into the building supply industry introduced principled hallmarks of integrity, dedication, and a commitment to go the extra mile for customers. The Certified brand swiftly carved a niche for itself, earning recognition for impeccable customer service that consistently exceeded expectations on every sale.
As time progressed, Certified Lumber secured a substantial market share among the region’s most esteemed developers. Simultaneously, it provided resources to burgeoning builders, remodelers, and industrial customers, fostering the growth of their enterprises. Today, half a century later, the core mission initiated by the founding fathers endures unchanged. The values embedded by Isaac and Abe Rosenberg have transcended into a corporate culture synonymous with the Certified brand, solidifying its legacy in the building supply industry.
